Supervisory Skills and Development Program

The Supervisory Skills and Development Program started in the fall of 2001. Unlike the Roads Scholar Program, this new program is designed to help educate, prepare, and provide public works employees with the background necessary to comfortably and confidently perform in a supervisory position.

The nine courses chosen are intended to provide a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a supervisor and to develop tools for succeeding in management. All nine classes are required for completion of the program. Each year, one half of the classes will be offered at varying locations on the Front Range, and in that same year, the other half of the classes will be held at varying locations on the Western Slope. It is possible to complete all nine courses in one year if participants are able to travel to both the Western Slope (WS) as well as the Front Range (FR) locations.

Upon completion of the first annual 2001-2002 Supervisory Skills and Development Program this past May, it was realized that one dedicated participant completed all program requirements in the first year. Colorado LTAP would like to congratulate Dick McKee of Summit County for his continued dedication to workforce development!

The program began its second training year with "So You Are a Supervisor Now" in Westminster on Sept. 17, 2002. Who will be second to finish?
